Sustainable development as represented by Naturopôle

The 3i nature industrial sites were built within the context of having local roots and with the desire to ensure the durability and development of rural areas by adopting an eco-responsible attitude. One clear example of this desire is the creation of the “PARC NATUROPOLE NUTRITION SANTE” association on the Saint-Bonnet-de-Rochefort site in 1995. Naturopôle is :

• The installation of businesses which use or transform raw materials of plant origin for the Health Food market within a preserved environment,
• The installation of service companies sharing the economic theme of the environment and engaged in sustainable development,
• Thevertical integration of different business activities to develop mutualisation and the creation of partnership value,
• The development of partnerships between the businesses in the area and local skills in terms of research, development and training in nutrition, competitive clusters and technology transfer centres,
• The certification of products and services proposed within a sustainable development system.

In 2006, Naturopôle was rewarded for its system by obtaining national recognition as a "RURAL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE". Naturopôle has as its dual vocation both the sustainable development of the region and the rollout of actions which connect economic development at the same time as the enhancement and promotion of natural, cultural and heritage resources, environmental conservation and the development of human services. In February 2010, Naturopôle has obtained ISO 14001 certification and has become the first Auvergne’s industrial area to get it. In July 2010, Naturopôle has been again selected ’POLE D’EXCELLENCE" (Excellence centre label).
