The 3i nature Group rolls out its strategy and takes over the pharmaceutical subcontract unit UNITHER at Bessay-sur-Allier
3i nature, an acknowledged specialist group in the food supplement field
The 3i nature Group specialises in the development, manufacture and packaging of food supplements for European customers who are leaders in their markets.
It already brings together 4 units that complement each other : BIO-SPHERE – vegetable extraction and packaging in liquid and paste forms, VERT PRODUCT INGREDIENTS – special vegetable ingredients in dry form, LABORATOIRE LPH – manufacture and packaging of dry forms, and a Development Division – a central unit that handles all projects from feasibility study to the pilot batch.
In France, 3i nature is a major, early-stage player in the food supplements market, and its aim is to strengthen its position in Europe. In 2008 the group achieved a turnover of EUR 25 million with a staff of 160.
3i nature acquires the Bessay-sur-allier GMP certified site
With increased European regulations the nutriceutical market is attracting new players, major groups coming principally from pharmacy.
To meet these developments and the requirements of its customers and prospects, 3i nature has adopted a strategy of increasing both its capacity and know-how. The acquisition of a new production site represents an opportunity to speed up the implementation of this strategy.
The unit has a staff of about 70, with annual production capacity of 25 million sales units (15 million units manufactured in 2008). The site works on liquids and pastes in volumes of 50 – 500 ml, handles both production and manufacture, and is certified by AFSSAPS, the French health products sanitary safety agency.
Alongside the traditional pharmaceutical activities, 3i nature will be gradually setting up manufacturing and packaging operations for food supplements and cosmetics while remaining within the site’s certifications.
As part of 3i nature Group the new unit has the business name LBS PHARMA (for Laboratoire BIO-SPHERE Bessay PHARMA). It strengthens 3i nature’s skills and capacity with a complementary service with pharmaceutical GMP certification.
